2.1 - Rat Research

Rat Research
An emotional support pet rat
Rats are very good emotional support animals because they have the ability to understand others emotions. The article showed this by explaining an experiment that had been done. In the experiment, one rat was put in a tube and the other was given the opportunity to free the caged rat by figuring out the latch. In most cases the freed rat would release the caged rat. This shows that rats are empathetic creatures because they can tell when others are in distress and want to help them. Thus, leading to the conclusion that empathy can be a genetic, environmental trait, not always a learned trait.
